Pro-tip I used to live in NYC with a lifted 7.3 powerstroke. If you have a lifted truck and need to go to time square there are lots of free parallel parking spots a 5min walk away if you about 10 blocks south. I loved driving the truck in the city and never took the subway anywhere and always parallel parked for free or at a meter.
I love this dude for one thing and one thing only. I own a mustang. (Ford of course) am not a fan of huge "flashy" trucks unless they are meant to perform, but he put the advertisement at the very end and I'll watch the ad just for him doing that
My truck sits at about 7 feet exactly not lifted at all. I'm thinking about doing a 6 inch lift kit with 37 inch tires which will make my truck sit at almost 8 feet when I'm done. Good thing I live in South Dakota(:
my parents live in NYC lucky for me they live in Queens/Long Island, NY so if i ever drove my lifted dodge I can leave it in the driveway in the backyard and take a bus to the city lol. No way in hell would i ever drive a truck in Manhatten. I wouldn't even drive a brand new car in the city. Plus NYC is full of yuppy sensitive gentrified hipsters and my truck would offend their overpriced egos. Also I would have had freaked out and waved if i saw your truck lol
Awesome video all around. Was fun to watch. I would love to see a video of peoples reactions to your truck if you had a few clips to throw together, i'm sure a couple other people would enjoy it too. Thanks!
Kudos to you for driving in NYC. I was there in March and there was no way I was driving my '13 juke into that mess. At least it would fit. :) we parked in Weehaken and took the ferry over. Did an overnight trip too, and 2 days parking was $32. It was in an enclosed garage too, not sure of the clearance. Ferry is $9 each way per person from weehawken to midtown/39th street. Keep up the awesome videos.
I used to be super amused when I started to recognize super cars rolling around the city like "dayum dude, how's that 0-15 in 2 seconds going?" but traffic is like that everyday. traffic like that is normal to me. i just account for traffic automatically when i try to judge the time it takes for me to get from a to b. it's actually a very pleasant surprise when i get out of the city and it's all clear on the roads ;x
Nice video record of your trip to NYC. I have a 2005 GMC 2500HD Duramax, and it is a pain to park in some places, but fun to drive if you've got some room. My 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a breeze compared to it, so that will be my travel vehicle when I visit a large city, plus it's ride comfort is better than a 300 class MB.
hint: If a valet goes out of his way to do you a giant favor when he sees you are fucked, he doesn't actually give a fuck about you he just wants to get something back so please tip a minimum of $5 and that's absolutely the minimum in downtown or a big city. That valet has to manage many cars, at a hotel maybe hundreds of cars and now hes just lost one of his valuable spaces.
Young females a specially dont get it, nobody is trying to help you because you think you might look pretty, they want a tip$ dont be a bitch.
I would love to drive in NYC in something that small. every time I am there I am also working. in a OTR tractor pulling a 53 foot trailer. but yeah good advice. me personally the few times I am there for pleasure and in my own vehicle I park outside the city and take the train in. depending on the time of day and destination it can be far faster to use mass transit.
