Thanks for this advice and that's a really good idea to also put the Chinese writing. Unfortunately we're not in Taiwan anymore but I'll keep these in mind for the future. Thanks again for the suggestions! :)
+Eileen AldisHi Eileen,There are just too many variety of gourmet in Taiwan. While you are here in Taiwan, you can give a try for 1.mutton stewed in herbal soup(羊肉爐）2.ginger duck cooked with rice wine(薑母鴨). I put them in Chinese writing n hope your friends will help you to find the restaurant. And hope you enjoy your time here in Taiwan. 😊
I think food really is a great part/experience while travelling. You really tried such divers cuisines there and love your insightful vlogs! 😍💕 i am gonna try and make a reservation at longtail~~!!!
Danke! 🤒I totally agree with you about food being a big part of travel (and life! haha!). That's AWESOME that you're going to see about Longtail. I hope you have a great experience if you go! Let me know if you try other things there 💖Also - if you go, say hello to Henry from Marc and I!!
Hi Ben! Unfortunately, no, we didn't get there but I REALLY wanted to and it's near the top of my list for another time. I heard about how good it is (and how long the line is haha) from a lot of different people.
10:01 Someone commented it is the food court of the department store 統一時代百貨.
7:01 The "root beer" is a happy accident. The manufacture tried to duplicate Coca Cola using local ingredients but made this instead. It has been very popular in Taiwan since 1950's. Until they need to find it an English name, the manufacture found the taste is more like a root beer than Coke.
Very interesting video introducing quite a variety of food at quite different setting, from micHelen star restaurant, to home made food at home to food court（in department store?) to cafe style! Wow 😋
Sorry to hear that you are under the weather, hope you feeling better soon. ☀️
Omg I thought you covered all the gastronomic delights in the previous videos !! Something for everyone there! And hope you're feeling better too Eileen. Thank you doing this despite feeling miserable😊
Thank you, Scott! I'm trying to heal up as quickly as possible and get my voice back! And, yes, totally something for everyone on the Taiwan food scene which is really nice. We felt lucky to try lots of new things :)
Wow! Taiwan looks like gastronomy heaven! How do you choose where to eat? It all looks so good! I agree with your opinion of packaging with great graphic art! I love going to the Chinese grocery store to look at the packaging, especially the candy and cookie packaging.
I like the idea of the restaurant in the apartment building. Many years ago, we were approached by a man in Mexico inviting us to his restaurant, and we declined, thinking it was a little fishy that someone would run a restaurant out of his home. We learned later that this is quite common in Mexican cities, and the food and experience is unparalleled. It was a missed opportunity on our part.
I can understand why you thought that as it's not common in North America. We didn't try home dining in Mexico, however, we did in Cuba and had a wonderful experience. I also love going to the grocery store (any grocery store actually haha!) and looking at all the packaging. Have you ever seen the game show Supermarket Sweep from the 90s? It's a classic and so much fun to see the old logos etc. As for how we choose where to eat, good question! It's a mix of things - research, asking, recommendations from others, and luck never hurts ;)
Wow, as foodies Kim and I loved these crazy exotic dishes!!! Amazing :) Also congrats on you two about to hit 25k subscribers. We remember just a short while ago when you barely had 10. So proud of you guys. Safe travels, James and Kim
Oh! The peach yogurt drink from vending machine! I haven't seen it for YEARS!! I didn't even know they are still in market!
Sorry that I can't tell you where to buy. But thank you for bringing back my childhood memories. 😊
Oh man~how can I not give you guys credit?
That was really awesome!! "Yogafresh" is a classic drink here in Taiwan that has been around for many years, but as you know we got too many kinds of drink, most people forgot how good it was but I still love it so much.
You can easily get the original favor in 7-11 but pink one not so easy to find, maybe yo can try here on line~ https://m.ezprice.com.tw/s/健酪含鈣飲料/
Once again,great video,I enjoy a lot.👍
Thanks for the good wishes, Evan! I appreciate it and am trying to heal up :) You're right - there are so many good drinks in Taiwan. I found the blue 'original' drink around but never the peach one. Thanks for sending a link. It was super duper refreshing.
Oh I love your reaction especially when trying something new!!! Also, when you say “ how how chi”( it is yummy), you sound so cuteXD( Who’s your Chinese teacher? She must be super clever😂😂) Maybe I should go back to Longtail for more food!!!
By the way, whoever sees this comment, if you’re adventurous enough, order the “ night market” cocktail!!! 😋😋😋
Great video as always, everything here looks amazing. So much lovely seafood there: would probably be my first pick. The apartment restaurant looked like a fun, more personal experience, nice change from the norm.
Food in Taiwan is something we proud of. The food court you were asking is under B2 of a department store called "統一時代百貨". Their English name is quite strange - Your Style. The URL of that department store is here: http://www.uni-ustyle.com.tw/
Wow ! Yowza! That’s a whole lot of incredible food!….Everything looked like a masterpiece on a plate!
What can you say?….Tasty, yummy, scrumptious, delectable….
I LOVE how you appreciate great and exciting meals!
Good question! I love root beer too and the brand A&W is classic root beer in Canada. It has a much sweeter taste than the one in Taiwan. I reckon sweeter than Australia too. I'm used to the sweeter taste since I grew up with it but I really enjoyed the one in Taiwan as well. So interesting to see how the flavour is 'same same but different' as they say in Thailand :)
There is an interesting question that I am so curious that is about root beer. I like drinking root beer. When I travelled to Australia and I reckon that the root beer in Australia that is a little bit sweeter than Taiwanese root beer. How about the taste in Canada? Does it taste like the Taiwanese version or is a unique Canadian flavour? 😊
I am so impressed with the huge variety of food experiences. I've never heard of someone running a restaurant out of their
apartment. Kudos to him and to you for finding him! Another great video. Lots to love in Taiwan.
