I love listening to a doctor that knows his stuff, no looking at his notes, it all comes from the heart. Want the truth? Follow the money for a research project to its source and you will find the truth.
It is corruption when they produce research which is fraudulent, when they buy politicians and health boards, when they get politicians to hound down and make life difficult for anyone telling the truth.
I became a vegan after reading The China Study - I follow Dr Greger to remind me why I did this. No hypertension now, feeling great, fat is melting off me. This all makes perfect sense. Evidence based living.
They eat a lot more fat in the medeterranean diet and the "blue zones" than has been reported by biased researchers.
Good luck staying vegan for more than 10 years. Few make it and %84 of vegans go back to animals. Lots of vegans report depression, low energy, and many other issues including maintaining a healthy weight.
Did you know the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American College of Cardiology updated their blood pressure guidelines?
Overall, the most impactful change to the new blood pressure guidelines include a lower definition of hypertension. The AHA guidelines now suggest that high blood pressure should be treated at 130/80 mmHg instead of the previous guideline of 140/90. Based on this change, you may notice that your classification shows “Elevated” or “High” when they may have been considered “Normal” before the update.
First i was fine , now i need pills ?!
Were do my pills come from when i live on a deserted island ?
Nope , probably we do not need chemical pills..
The doctor is being too kind to a corrupt system! Capitalism has built-in corruption of greed, scarcity, and the ignoring of facts. The first code of capitalism is to stick your fingers in your ears then scream LA-LA-LA-LA. Capitalism 101.
Why do you even have this idiot Greger in your show you retard? Greger says that carbs-sugars cause diabetes and obesity!!!!! what the fuck??!!! The truth is the total opposite. Carbs CURE diabetes and obesity. This quack "doctor" needs to STOP spreading his stupid idiotic disinformation because he harms the movement a lot.

Also I think it’s important to acknowledge the fact that there is studies that show both sides of the argument right.
Meaning no one way of doing it is proven right.
Everyone’s different and should follow what feels right for them and Brings them the best health.
Nutrition science is known to be one of the hardest sciences to conduct studies on.
There are so many variables to control for making the vast majority of conclusions weak.
Hence the debate.
If it were a clear cut answer there would be no debate
Speaking as someone who worked in cancer research, I can tell you that the problem with funding these kinds of diet studies using cancer charities is that these charities refuse to fund any studies that include a treatment that can cure more than one type of cancer, even though testing a treatment on more than one type of cancer is a requirement for publishing a study to prove you did your science right. So, for instance, if you have a drug or an antibody that you can get to treat or cure breast cancer, but it also works on prostate cancer, that grant proposal isn't even going to make the first round of reviews by Komen because they don't want their breast cancer money funding studies that benefit other charities who are, essentially, getting data for free. And that's true of most of those big charities. PLUS you have to factor in that they get a lot of their money from the food industry. Think pink ribbon campaigns on yogurt cups. Komen is sponsored by the egg industry and the Dippin' Dots and Deitz & Watson (processed meats and cheeses) and K&K Chemical. For cryin' out loud. They're not going to do a diet study that could potentially alienate their sponsors. Do you really think Dietz & Watson gives Komen money so that Komen will go out and tell everyone that processed meats are a Class I carcinogen? No. That's not how the system works. However, if someone can come up with a great crowdfunding campaign with zero conflicts of interest to actually fund a study like this, I'd be all for it. We need to give the system a great big middle finger and start putting our donations where they'll actually make a difference beyond a charity CEO's half-million dollar salary.
He really is sent from above, cannot believe how easily he explained it all and made a point to all of us....make sure sources are cited! I learned that in English 101, by 102 I was a master lmao!! Logical explanations but the proof is in the food itself. You want more natural energy, regular bowel movements, healthier moods? For the love of being healthier...eat food in that natural state! Our country has been decieving🤔to us and we were raised to be conditioned to eating foods lacking in nutritional value😠😠😠. I love listening to him speak and truly appreciate how comprehensive, covers it all!! Thank you Dr. Gregor and host!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I think what gets people into trouble with the whole class 1 carcinogen thing is that the statement "it's in the same class as cigarettes and plutonium" overlooks the distinction between the statistical certainty that something causes cancer and the relative risk (RR) it possesses. So, cigarettes, pack a day, I think are on the order of 1,900% in relative risk aka insanely stupid and dangerous. I think the processed meat thing is like 150% per 50g portion eaten per day, so just regular stupid and dangerous. However, ask anyone if they'd rather up the odds 19X or 1.5X on getting cancer and most people would opt for 1.5X and categorically reject, rightfully so, that 1.5x is equal to 19x. As such, a rudimentary depiction of cigarette smoking vs meat eating, like ohhh say lit cigarettes on a frying pan being served to a child, might, just might get someone accused of intellectual dishonesty and could even damage the credibility of the broader argument being made. Anyone, please correct me on the numbers here if I'm off as I am working from memory here.
I think once we as a species eliminate aging. These issues will be taken allot more seriously. As it stands now we will all invariably die. It makes it easier to justify unhealthy life decisions. It shouldn't though, as living a longer healthier existence is far more preferable to a premature death by a preventable disease.
Approximately 1 out of 100 humans have a gene called 7-Dehydrocholesterol Reductase. In Eastern Europe it's one out of 30. These humans cannot produce sufficient or no cholesterol, which leads to growth n mental retardation, autism, physical deformities n suicide.
Humans only have animal cells. All animal cells are made of cholesterol.
Millions of humans would become retarded within months n die within years on a vegagan diet bcz it does *not* provide cholesterol.
*Smith-Lemli-Opitz Syndrome* is when somebody has 2 of these genes. A vegan diet means automatic death for them.
Vegans don't talk about these or all the other deficiencies bcz veganism is a belief based ideology aka religious cult. The central moto of veganism being *I don't do it for my health, I do it to save [animal] lives"* Therefore they do *not* care about anybody's health.
Vegan blood tests have proven that vegans are most deficient in cholesterol which is why they're obsessed violence, torture, blood n death
The problem is not knowledge but social pressure and environment. How many plant based outlets or restaurants do you see in towns People find it difficult to stick to the diet when there is so much to undermine them e.g. Plants do not keep outside the fridge and you need so much room to store them. Also to make food like this interesting you need to be good at cooking or go raw vegan. Also people in my experience try to sabotage your efforts as they see you as annoying as you have for them a strange diet.
I just finished How Not To Die and it is the best book I have read on the topic of health, disease and nutrition. Raised vegetarian (Adventist) I ate a ton of dairy and sugar as a kid. Then I tried the Pritikin plan when my kids were little and we loved the freedom from illness etc. But I got caught up in the trends: primarily wild salmon, olive oil, coconut oil, eggs etc. I've been fully WFPB for two years now, but this book really upped my knowledge, commitment and eating enjoyment! Thank you so much for all you do Dr. Greger and Plant Based News!
My new pcp told me that while he doesn’t know much about nutritional value eating for health, if I continue losing weight I’ll be off all my medication in 6 months. I’m hoping going vegan I reverse my aorta aneurism before requiring surgery.
5:30 I must say, Dr. Gregor, "corrupt" is exactly the RIGHT word to use in describing the whole system. Just because, as you say, "it's just the way the system works," doesn't mean it's not corrupt. If anything, the whole system IS corrupt, and it's just the way the system is worked.
BIG PHARMA IN THE USA ARE USING DOCTORS FOR NOTHING BUT LITTLE DRUG PUSHERS FOR BIG PHARMA THEY WILL DO EXACTLY WHAT BIG PHARMA TELLS THEM TO DO.BIG PHARMA ONLY SELLES PILLS AND TREATMENTS THEY DO NOT SALE CURES
The unmistakable voice of the great Dr.Greger. 'Know thyself' is the most important mantra when it comes to all aspects of life. A plant based diet is the only way for ultimate gut health which is so important as it is the source of most diseases. Go with your gut feeling. 👌
What he is saying is true about dietitians. I am a dietitian myself and I found out real quick that there are people spreading their philosophies. Every time I go to a nutrition conference you see blue bell ice cream passing out free ice cream to all the dietitians and McDonald’s passing out gift cards. Plus many of the RDs just take the information that is taught to them and don’t research it themselves. It’s frustrating at times. I don’t like going to those conferences bc of it. But I will say that not RDs are bad. You have a handful that really do look at the research and don’t just take the info without proper evidence
