The life of a diesel engine is clean fuel, coolant, oil and air. I personally use motorkote additive every 3rd oil change and use the rotella t6 5w40 oil and motorcraft filters. I change my fuel filters every oil change, do a coolant flush every 25 thousand miles and a transmission service every 25 thousand miles. I paid alot for my dually 6.7 and want it to last as long as it can. Thanks for the video young man and keep up the good work.
Menadin Halilbasic (1 месяц назад)
I believe that Mobil 1 5w40 isn’t approved by ford anything since the switch over to ck-4 from cj-4.

yes you should always change your oil on your diesel

I know this video was made a long time ago, but why do you use 5w-40 instead of the oil that the truck was designed to run on which is 10w-30?

Get a "Fumoto Drain Valve" to replace the oil pan plug. Awesome upgrade
Shannon Schroeder (1 год назад)
alot of my vehicles oil drain plus are horizontal and not in the bottom of the pan lol. i learned the same way you just did in the video haha. good content man watch you all the time.
Ty Armstrong (1 год назад)
Use some eximo on that oil. That'll take it right off doesn't matter if it's stained
Jacob Abbott (1 год назад)
What weight is that oil?
Terry Swensen (1 год назад)
"Finger Touch" oil drain valves. I use them on everything.
That Dodge Guy (1 год назад)
What job do you have or is that your parents truck?
revolutionpm (1 год назад)
4:06-Never had a truck do that. LOL. do what? Oil drain out when the plug is removed. LOL More like this is your first oil change. If you did not know the oil would shoot out like that, it is definitely your first time on the Ford SD. Did your daddy let you change oil in his trucks and film it with his go daddy cam in daddy's garage so you could film yourself and upload it to youtube via daddy's computer with daddy's paid for internet connections? Poser.
LOUD 'N' PROUD (1 год назад)
revolutionpm once actually changed lots of oil on cars and trucks. But typically on all the ones I've done the drain plug is on the bottom where the oils hoots straight down and not sprays all over. And actually I own all my camera gear, I buy all my own Editing equipment, work for ALL my own money, pay for all my own fuel, insurance, vehicles, mods, ect. You wanna know how? You watching these vids. So thanks! Now I have more "daddy's money" to pay for what I have. You thought you were gonna make me look bad 😂😂😂 that's funny af lol
jeff kokosisnski (1 год назад)
yes Lucas is an awesome product!
Leatherkid01 (1 год назад)
You sholda open the drain then open the cap
SloMango (1 год назад)
Adding oil stabilizers is very old school mentality which oils did need years ago because the additive packs were very weak. No need for that anymore. Just run some rotella t6 and call it a day.
Powerstroke Strong 903 (1 год назад)
Make it easier next time leave filler cap on til majority of oil drained use a 5 gal bucket to catch oil and loosen plug all but few threads hold bucket up close to drain plug and remove plug after flow starts put bucket on ground it will be less messy. After 2 6.7 psd's you learn the tricks to diy oil changes and the plug doesn't need to be that tight it as a o-ring seal built in ford service manual says 15 ft/lb torque on oil drain plug a Cheater bar should not be needed someone WAY over tightened it Careful not to strip it. Or get a drain pan with large opening on top or make hole bigger

Here's a good tip I use, take a center punch and hammer a hole to drain the oil out of the old filter, that way it won't go flowing down the sides and get all over your wrench when you take it off
ChampOfLeague (1 год назад)
Ben Ross since I own my own semi shop after doing so many oil changes I took a hammer cut on of the teeth off the back and sharpened it and that's what I do punch whole with the hammer let it drain first, doesn't make as much of a mess
FinnishLad (1 год назад)
My trick to avoid spilling oil on the floor is take the container you will drain the oil in and put it inside an bigger container so if the oil wont come out the way you think its gonna atleast its gonna hit in the container (sorry for bad english im finnish okay! :D)

Sackmatters (1 год назад)
Not being a hater but 6.4L and 6.7L powerstroke a aren't worth owning. Talking about a break down POS. Not to mention cummins and duramax in the real world out pull it. Coming from a 7.3L powerstroke owner.
Sackmatters (1 год назад)
ChampOfLeague of course they have. Every truck can have a freak problem but not 1/500 are going to have those problems like the fords do.
ChampOfLeague (1 год назад)
Sackmatters I'll put money down that both cummins and duramax has had all those problems before, may not be as common but I'm sure some have had injector problems and shit like that.
Sackmatters (1 год назад)
ChampOfLeague I'm no fan boy what so ever. You cannot say a duramax or cummins have injector failures out of the factory and or a turbo grenade right out of the factory. How about egr failure or connecting rods breaking and or warping. Injectors being stuck open. I've seen that plenty. Like I said I own a powerstroke and a duramax. My girlfriend has a cummins. I've got all 3. Not some brand loyal like most.
ChampOfLeague (1 год назад)
Sackmatters but at the same time you could list me just about the same issues with the duramax and cummins, no brand is perfect they all have issues, you can say as much bad about the 6.7 or any powerstroke but the same could be said about cummins and duramax no matter how much of a fan boy you are weather it's Ford dodge or chevy, they all have issues especially with the amount of emissions they need now to be built. Doesn't matter how much of a mechanic, how long of a mechanic someone's been, what they've done, someone else has done the same to another brand like it or not.
Sackmatters (1 год назад)
ChampOfLeague it is all within experience. I live where trucks are used a real trucks. Alaska. I've got to make sure it starts in -40 and can handle being driven down horrendous roads everyday. I can list all the issues with the 6.7L is you'd like me to.

LOUD 'N' PROUD Schaeffers oil....5w40 in the winter...15w40 summer...archoil for the oil additive...always want to run fuel additive if you like your injectors and prevent stiction...a good coolant filtration system will make everything last much longer too.
LOUD 'N' PROUD (1 год назад)
Tagz we use what NAPA recommended
Jeremy Osgood (1 год назад)
Good video but don't forget to grease the front end that is important to as for the oil filter take and the oil running over it take a small stub nose screw driver and a small hammer and peck a small while in the bottom of it and it will drain it then screw it off and no mess and when pouring your oil in if u turn the jug on its side it will pour nice and smooth for u bud love the truck.
Bryatt Childers (1 год назад)
Why don't you get synthetic Lucas HD stabilizer they do make it ya know.
LOUD 'N' PROUD (1 год назад)
Bryatt Childers I used what dad bought for his truck...
tyler andrassy (1 год назад)
I would use ford oem oil filter and definitely not a wix
Whiskey Tango (1 год назад)
tyler andrassy I only use OEM oil filters for diesels...heck they even sell the motorcraft ones at walmart.
VelocitySCTR (1 год назад)
Just some advise here but I would use the pure synthetic additive from Lucas instead of the heavy duty oil stabilizer. They are the same size bottle just different variants. The reason being is Lucas actually tells you to use the synthetic additive instead of the old heavy duty one right on the bottle. Their are special ingredients in the newer version synthetic variant specifically designed for newer engines, but akso older ones. (Try it in your cummins) Second, the heavy duty stabilizer you used is basically gear oil which is not good in newer tight tolerance engines. The newer synthetic additive is also meant to go in synthetic amd conventional oils too. All around I would use the pure synthetic additive.

hey you gonna screw the motor up. you need to be using the ford motorcraft filters.
woolen ominvore (1 год назад)
Iv always went 12000 miles b4 I change my oil. Synthetic oil u can go 20000 miles if u want the oil now days is good that u don't need to change it after 3 or 5000 miles cause if u do u don't even let the oil do what it needs to do the only truck if changed 5000 miles stayed in the shop my others worked perfectly
Pablo's Reef (1 год назад)
Shops and dealers are terrible when doing oil changes. They over torque the oil pan bolts. I had my oil pan stripped after a Ford dealer used an impact wrench to tighten the bolt. I only took it to the dealer because the 1st oil change was free.
LOUD 'N' PROUD (1 год назад)
Pablo's Reef for sure..
Game Bred Duramax (1 год назад)
Fuel Filter is probably the single most important after oil changes imo just because we all know fuel injectors aren't cheap and it's usually a big job on the newer trucks, I run power service diesel clean with every tank, I just hit 150,000 miles on a 12 Dmax!
LOUD 'N' PROUD (1 год назад)

riggin and jiggin (1 год назад)
I change every 3k miles if my oil aint bad but i check it every day and when it starts to lose viscosity i change it if its before due its a bit costly that way because i tend to change it every 2500 miles Question: as far as maintenance is it better for your engine to do it the way i do it? And could it increase the longevity of the engine and make components last longer?
LOUD 'N' PROUD (1 год назад)
project 4.6 the more you change it will for sure help to keep good oil running through everything
Chris Balser (1 год назад)
It is high man I couldn't afford the diesel truck not to mention the 10 grand in upgrades lol but I do love diesels but don't own one but hopfully before I die I will own a diesel they are just to high dollar
riggin and jiggin (1 год назад)
if you do happen to get a 7.3 replace the IEM sensor i think its called but there cheap and easy to fix you can to it yourself but if you get the chance get a idi they are naturally aspirated and tend to be cheaper
Chris Balser (1 год назад)
project 4.6 that's awesome man even the older ones around my area ppl want high dollar I just seen a 94 powerstroke in my town the guy wanted 12 thousand for a 94 in my opinion I think that's a little high for a 94
riggin and jiggin (1 год назад)
Chris Balser i have been looking into buy a 80s model power stroke diesel they are cheap they will have a few things you need but other than that they seem to last forever

10 grand for turbo delete wheels tires ???? 😂😂😂😂 where do you buy from
Adam Marschel (1 год назад)
LOUD 'N' PROUD if you're going to be spending that much, why not upgrade to aftermarket turbo kit with sxe 366 or 369? Better and stronger turbo will really allow that truck to produce more power. I know you tow a lot so the 366 will be better for spoiling and towing.
Paul Madsen (1 год назад)
My quick google search reveled a new oem turbo can be bought for 1,400, an add a turbo costs 4,200. Rims and tires I won't argue. But deleting it all maybe two grand, 2,500 tops its not that expensive. If you do the work yourself that is, but if you bring it to the shop pull your pants down and bite the towel.
LOUD 'N' PROUD (1 год назад)
Matt Parks new remanufactured turbo and Install is about $4K on that truck... new 20x12's and 35's close to $3K... deleting it all and tuner another few thousand.... not that hard to figure out lol
