The overall objectives of the UYD are to promote youth work development and youth participation as well as political mainstreaming of the youth related issues and youth policy development; to reinforce capacity-building of civil society organisations; to foster youth co-operation and Global Youth Work; and to promote human rights, intercultural dialogue and democratic citizenship as essential dimensions of global education. Good Practice nº2 : Women and youth against violence

02:06
This video is part of the good practices database created by the Euro-Med Women Network of the NSC during the SPYWDP training in the 16th University on Youth and Development. This project, illustrated in this video by Marouane Bakit, has been planned by Makers of Hope SMH in partnership with Cordaid. After the approval of the Government of the Netherlands to provide support for this project, Young leaders in Libya have increased skills and methodologies to monitor their daily safety, implement alternative community approaches to increase the daily safety of women and influence security policies at the macro level. Youth-led organizations which address gender inequality and empower young women in peace-building and conflict resolution are crucial partners in peace-building efforts and it has to be ensured support to them because they represents a key actor in the effort to find a long term solution in the conflict area. This solution should include social, political, economic and cultural empowerment. Good Practice nº4 : Youth against so-called 'honor' killings

02:22
This video is part of the good practices database created by the Euro-Med Women Network of the NSC during the SPYWDP training in the 16th University on Youth and Development. The project ‘Against the killing of women’, illustrated in this video by Qamar Taha, has been planned by the Palestinian youth-led organization Baladna. This organization is apolitical, independent, local and based in Haifa. It aims to develop youth leadership and democratic processes in order to build a better society. Raising awareness about so-called ‘honor killings’ within the Palestinian society is a joint project between Baldna and the Kayan association. Local initiatives to fight violence against women allow change to come from within the society and thus have a bigger impact. End Violence Against Women - "Listen to us"

02:51
This short-movie is aiming at drawing the attention on the victim-blaming attitudes that marginalise and stigmatise the survivor and make it harder to come forward and report the abuse. The fear of being stigmatised by family and the community plays a considerable part in preventing women from reporting violence. Through this stroytelling inspired by real survivors' testimonies, the North-South Centre is adressing the obstacles and barriers that stand against women survivors of sexual violence and call to support them.
